AT&T Inc. is an American multinational Conglomerate headquartered at WhitacreTower in Downtown Dallas, Texas. During the majority of the 20th century, AT&T had a monopoly on phone service in the United States. It began its history as the American District telegraph company in St. Louis, 1878. After expanding and serving to Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas and several mergers, it became southwestern Bell Telephone services in the U.S. in 1899, AT&T became the parent company when the American Bell Telphone sold its assets to its subsidiary comapny.
